Some might say that’s an age-old conundrum.
Others, might say with the right mind-set and a few good questions, that task could be one that’s checked off the to-do list.
Some of our tenants thoughts on what they ARE or AREN’T looking for?
- Doesn’t want a noisy housemate
- Would like someone who will do his fair share of keeping the common areas clean and tidy
- Must be a non-smoker
- The housemate needs to be approachable in the event a problem needs to be raised and discussed with him [or her]
- Preferably not prone to monopolising the common areas (e.g., with large groups of visitors a lot of the time). Obviously, having small numbers of guests is OK as much as he [or she] wants, insofar as he [or she] can then entertain them in his [or her] room. Larger numbers spilling out into the common areas are OK if it’s not e.g. every second night, if you get my drift – I don’t want to feel as though I’m exiled from my own kitchen!
- I’ve had a lot of problems in the past with cleanliness, so I’d like a roommate with clean habits, like keeping common areas clean and not leaving dishes in the sink for weeks.
- People who complain about things but do not solve problems. I wish to live with other adults who are responsible…
